St Martins School News & Christmas 2022 Update
The last 6 months since we shared our progress have been very challenging for me as the Administrator and also for the two schools. As you all know Kenya is facing its worst drought in 40 years and little or no rain in 3 years. This has affected our schools with increased food prices and inflation.
The most affected are the children in our school who live in the slum plus their guardians whose lives have regressed since the pandemic.
Most children have no guarantee of meals while at home and as a school we are asked in some cases to help With little income it's not easy as we still have to feed them while here at school. It has been a struggle to feed the 800 children in our primary school and the many children attending our Saturday feeding program every weekend.
Today the school is closed for the end of the academic year and will re-open for classes on 23rd January. Attached to this post is our Christmas School Newsletter (pdf) with more details on our feeding programme, academic and education updates as well as features on our community outreach initiatives.
We look forward to your support in 2023 Sr. Emmah Karanja, Administrator St Martins Primary
